have rescued a gibbicep from a guy who works with me, he's moving away (btw i use the word 'rescue' as i dread to think what its fate might have been had i not offered!) anyways, he only recently bought it, i got it tonight and it's obviously still a baby as it's only around 2.5" long.

i have a 180 (uk) litre tank and realise i can't keep him forever. can anyone give me an indication as to how long it will be (on average) before he gets to around 8", at this time i'll need to pass him on to someone or my lfs, which wouldn't worry me as they're a genuinely high quality one, for once!

any advice welcome.

how is your tank furnished?

If its pretty open plan we'll be good in there for a bit longer than 8" - say 12"...

if fed properly they 'tend' to grow about 1" a month ;)

here's my tank as it is now:

i thought around 8" would have been time to re-home, you reckon 12" would be okay? either way it seems as though i'll only have him for up to a year :/
