Hi everyone.
IMG_9032.png
I have a giant gourami which I put in another tank with another giant gourami which attacked it. Now the fins are red and rotted. Some scales have also come out and the fish is constantly going to the surface to breathe. Please advise what I need to do? I have added API fish salt and Melafix. Thanks

Do you have a separate tank for it?

Melafix won’t do much but salt could start to limit the bacterial infection until you can get treatment/ diagnosis. The fish looks to have a couple of little lumps as well as the red infected patches and fin loss.

Start with 2 tablespoons of aquarium salt per 20 litres/ five gallons of water. Mix the salt in warm water to dissolve it before adding it to the tank.

Clean water is the best remedy. Keep the water clean with frequent water changes.

Medications and salt will just stress her/him out more.

Also I hope she/he is in a different tank than with the other gourami.

Why on earth would you put two GGs together? The chance of them not fighting is almost zero. You'll need to keep them in different tanks.
