So, the other day, I got 7 Giant Danios, or rather, 6 Giant Danios, and another type of Danio that got thrown in with the Giant's- he's the same size, but he's got whiskers, and has a circle pattern rather than stripes- what is he? I saw a tank of them at the LFS, though they were more expensive...

Anyway, 75 gallon contains 7 Danios, A rosy barb, a paradise fish, and a pair of zebra danios. I know it's a messed up situation, but I'm waiting for those assorted fishes to pass on, though the rosy barb especially is looking rather healthy :p.

At one point in time, I'd like to add a few Elephant nose (I have lots of good experience with these guys- don't go off on me!), so I'd like to keep the tank inhabitants a bit.. "quiet"-er. I'm also having weird pH issue- it's about 8.2, and showing no signs of leveling off, even after I add water from our tap that is 7.0. Go Figure. I've alos got pH down supplies that do apparently nothing but burn a hole in my pocket- and yes I've seen the thread warning against such products.

Ideally, I want something flashy that inhabits all levels, and I want prolific breeders. Guppies don't particularly appeal to me, nor do platies, and I know mollys are typically brackish.

I would also like to have goldfish in the tank, fantail goldfish.

Um, a handful of cory's would also be nice. And Kuhli loaches... and flounders...

I guess I'm just wondering what everyone thinks about my propositions, if there's anything I should stray away from for sure, etc. If you wanted to suggest a type of fish, that would be supercool too- I'd enjoy a suggestion on a pretty, prolific breeder that I neccisarily wouldn't have to worry about any of them being eaten by other fish...

hi Calusa,
I have Giant Danios too...they are really beautiful when they settle in and get their colors. We want to add silver fish, maybe Diamond Tetras to their tank.

Please don't add a goldfish, they are cold water fish and very dirty. I have no info on the others you mentioned, but I think a flounder would require sand as a substrate. (aren't flounders marine fish?)
