I was just wondering if there's any info on them, I've googled and can't find much. Some places say that they get up to 7" and some say 5", so what's the info, and what size tank can they be in? Not planning on getting any right now, just wondering.

Most of the ones that you see on aquabid that say "GIANT" are about 5 inches or so and just really stocky. :flex: I think they are more of what Jim Sonnier would call a "half giant". I don't think you can really get true giants many places, unless you went to a betta show. And they would be $$$ I think.

If you ever buy offline ask for pics compaired to a regular sized betta.

I agree. I bought a pair from bettatalk and they were big, but I don't know if I'd call them "giants". I told Jim Sonnier about their breeding habits and how the male would switch hit- holding sometimes, blowing nests at others and he assumed they were probably some kind of hybrid between a pugnax/splenden. He rolled his eyes when I told him where I bought them :look:

i don't think it's possible to x breed pugnax and splendens, at least that's what i have previously been told.
is bettatalk still up and running? that whole site is a major eyesore and should have been shut down a long time ago :p

Well, if that is indeed what they were a hybrid of- it would explain how truly odd they were. And also how unhealthy they turned out to be -_-

Yeah, I believe bettatalk is still around. Amazing isn't it? :p

Yeah, just visited it. You know they charge $20 to ask a question? Called it a "betta consoltation" like it was a lawyer thing or something like that. That was just classic! It cracked me up! I'm sorry if I'm offending anyone who likes that site, but c'mon, $20 a question?

The prices of some of the bettas were outrageous, makes me appreciate my $4 beauties all the more.

Thanks for mentioning the site, I got a great laugh out of it.

Boy, some of the people around here are getting screwed!!
Wuv, Synirr, you girls should be rolling in the dough right now!
