Congratz on getting one! Hope all goes well!

Oh!

boy i feel stupid :*)

Yeah i saw a couple at a LFS store a few years ago, there really cool lookin!

I had always heard that you should thaw the food, because it allows for easier digestion.

Holy cow was feeding him the neatest experience last night! We've not seen much of him, just poking his head out every now and then.....I thawed the frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms in a little bit of warm water and poured it in. The fish went crazy! And out pops the BGK, quite a little piggy he was! It was so neat to watch him eat.....

People with BGK, do you feed them once or twice a day? We feed flakes twice a day, shrimp pellets once a day, and some freezedried bloodworms every other day or so.....but should I be feeding the frozen foods (mainly for him, because everyone else eats the other stuff!) twice a day or is once (before bed) good enough?

Once he gets a little bigger, I'd like to do some thinking on offering him live foods. The LFS I was at doesn't offer any live foods, so I'd have to go somewhere else.

I feed mine once a day. He only comes out during the night and I usually give him blood worms or brine shrimp. I also try to keep a supply of ghost shrimp in my tank for him.

is the care for a brown ghost knife the same as a bgk

Most knife fish have same care.
On the feeding issue...Heck I just tap the side of the tank and he comes racing up to his corner to get fed. It can be 10 a.m. or 10 p.m. He knows when he hears that special tapping noise that it means F-O-O-D !!!

If you put bloodworm in the tank at Midday he will come out. They always come out if they can smell food. I feed mine bloodworm and cichlid diet every night and he is always there. You can teach them to hand feed. I am currently trying to with my BGK. If you leave a dim light on at night when feeding he will get used to it and then start to feed with the food in your hand at the bottm of the tank. Every night move your hand higher and he will soon realise what you are doing. Eventually you will be near the top. Now place your hand underneath the BGK when feeding and slowly move it up. Sometimes he may swim off so move your hand down a bit. After a month of doing this he should have realised that you will not harm him. Now he won't care about your hand in the water and will lie in your hand when eating :D
