i have a chance to pickup a black ghoast knife and a 120gal (aprox) aquarium from a friend of my moms. at the moment the fish is under the care of someone who could care less about it and the real owner wants someone with an interest in fish to take care of it.

ill give more details later about the condition of the tnak/fish but i havent seen them yet so im not shure.

she says the fish is farly large and im not shure how delacate they are but i need to know how i shold transport him/her later today and if there is anything i shold know about theis fish befor i jump in feet first.

i dont know if im experienced enuff for a BGK, but i know i will take alot better care of it than the current owner!

sorry if you dont see this as an emergency, i need to know about transporting him/her today tho and i thought emergencys wold help with that.

so PLZ get me some answers ASAP! thx

Should be kept in 150gal tank, has a big mouth might eat meduim size fish.

i got that.....ive read about them alredy. i need to know what steps i shold take in transporting him. its about a half an hour drive and then tank setup.... id say i have to have somthing he can stay in for 6 hours. also he may be to big for a bag (havent seen him yet) shold i just put him in a cooler?

Do you have a small plastic tank you can take with you or a cooler should be fine, as long as you can keep the temp the same, also what is the ph of the owner of the fish to yours.

also what is the ph of the owner of the fish to yours.
im not shure at the moment... i dont even think she wold know. im going to take my test kitsand pack the fish in a cooler.

i shold let you know tank size is 120-USgal.......
edit: ive herd all of NW oregon hase the same water paramiters from the tap.... that wold b 7.4 and soft water (dont know the exact Kh dont got a kit)

yep, wrap her up in a bag and slap her in the cooler, it will work perfect, how far do u hace to transport this baby?

Just curious what the status on the Black Ghost Knifefish was djdotnet. I had a very cool BGK for 7 years so my attention always goes to this subject. :)

BGK are VERY easy to keep. This is my fav profile,as it has the most accurate info. However,as far as ph,I have mine at 7.5,always have, always will..it's better for the fish to have it stable then to mess around trying to drop it and have it fluctating all the time.
Weekly water changes are a must.Live foods are NOT.
Mine eat
tubifex
brine
deli shrimp,crab,lobster,tuna etc...
freeze dried blood worms and shrimp
cichlid pellets
peas
spinach
