getting their greens

I know Ive read the answer to this somewhere but I cant find it
Ive fed cucumber to my bristlenoses tonight and they are still munching at it
How long do you leave it in the tank before removing it?
I want to try some on the loaches tomorrow but dont want any of the fish to overeat and be sick

they should be fine....ive never had those types of fish before so im not sure. when i feed my ottos i usually leave the piece in for around 12 hrs.....except i use zucinni not cucumber
