Hi, am having a 48*18*15 tank built and have instructed the person building it to put a 50mm bottom drain in........after speaking to people on this forum i decided to get a second hole put in before tank is built, i contacted the guy and he has said a 50mm single drain hole is more than adequate, why do you need a second one? whats it for?...the only answer i could give was to increase water circulation through sump and tank!!! does that sound right, cos i havent heard anything back yet

yep, thats right, you can have a much bigger flow through then system. you may also wand a closed loop which could be run off one of the holes etc. I'm a very strong believer in pleanty of water flow even for softies. my tank is turned over through a biological bed (coral gravel) in the sump 10 times an hour.
