The other day I de did my tank took everything out rinsed off the wood. I look some wood out that had Anubias nana on it. I rinsed it off with the hose then I left it outside to dry out just enough so I did not kill the plant. I kind of forgot about it being outside and the leaves were starting to get wilted looking. So I put it back in the tank. It's now greener then ever. Not a speck of brown hairy algae at all.

I should have done a before and after photo.

Has anyone tried this dry out method with algae on plants.

I haven't tried that but I did however use my shrimp to clean my new anubias that I bought an auction. It was covered in green algae. I put it in the shrimp tank and they had the algaes stripped off in 3 hours. Too bad they don't like black brush algae too!

You still haven't tackled the cause, you've merely disguised the problem, if it were me I'd be wanting to find out what is causing the algae and fixing that instead.

Yeah I know that. I have algea in this tank and I just control it by cleaning my tank and algea often. It works for me. I don't mind some algea as long as I can control it and keep it from going crazy.
