Hi folks my previous post (if you read it) was about my pleco dying.

Anyway its there if you want to read it. But I am going to replace him with another pleco once I am sure my tank is tip top.

The three types I am considering are as follows:

L066 King tiger pleco

L007 Vampire pleco

or a L204 Flash pleco

Has anyone had any experience in keeping any of these types of pleco? My favourites are between the L066 and L007 as they are quite different to other plecos in terms of markings and what not.

Its tank mates will be: a BN, 2 armoured catfish, 5 green tiger barbs, a rosey barb and some amano shrimps.

anyone got good advice?

cheers chish

I have kept L204 and it was pure evil, alpha male of the tank used to kick the crap outta a common twice the size of it.

From those 3 i would choose the vamp, they have some in my LFS and they are awesome looking fish, they will reach a larger size than the 66 and 204 (approx 9 inch) so bear that in mind.

All 3 have different diet requirements as well, 204 is panaque so a wood eater, protein needs to be limited, 66 is a hypancistrus so likes a meaty diet (carnivore) and the 007 is in the middle, an omnivore
here is some more info for ya, along with pictures as well

the L204 tends to hide during the day much as any panaque seems to do
and the L066 are far too common IMHO

I'd go for the L007
they are very good algae eaters, at least mine is

What's being common got to do with it? L66s are beautiful fish that stay at a reasonable size, surely that's more important than how many people have them?

I'd personally go for that one - the vampire is beautiful but L66s are supposed to be quite hardy, and as I said they stay at a reasonable size too :)

To be honest, any would be fine in there though so it's completely up to you. You might have more trouble finding a vampire though.

Hiya folks, Cheers for the replies,

Shadow fox: My tank is 30 gallons (US) 4ft long by 15" high and 12" wide. And I run a fluval 4 along side a fluval 1.

Lisa: luckily enough my lfs in lossiemouth has a vast range of plecs, and has all of these in stock he will also be getting some L134's. He is very good at getting different fish.

Wolf: It has to be said though the L66 is a gorgeous fish, I have never seen one before. ;)

SO if I got an L66, what kind of foods should I be feeding? Bloodworms, Cockles.....will it take algae wafers at all?

The vampire pleco seems to be a good choice aswell

In terms of feeding do they require alot?

cheers again guys your help is much appreciated.

Yip, Are you from lossie?

I wanted to get down there on the weekend just passed but couldn't manage it, so I will maybe go this weekend coming or the following week providing the funds are in place.

So has anyone got any more info on the feeding of these plecs, I have already been on planet catfish.

cheers chish
