German Bred Black Mts (Melanoides Maculata)

Livestock: Rare black form of MTS (Malaysian Trumpet Snail) Melanoides Maculata, aka Mahogany Trumpet Snail. Kept them about 12 months now. Grows to about 2cm burrows in substrate, eats a ton of algae (yes MTS really eat algae), never eats live plants, and is just darn beautiful. Stock is from a german breeder. I keep them at PH 6.5, KH 6, 22C and 26C (two separate tanks). But if you keep them too acid their shells will turn grey. Will not interbreed with other MTS. Reproduces like other MTS by parthenogenesis. All photos are my own. Get this awesome critter for your tanks!
