German Blue Ram

Hi all,

This is my 1 of 3 rams I have. Question - Is it a German Blue Ram?? (At least I think it is....) Next question - Can someone KINDLY tell me if this is a male or female....and if possible, how can you tell the difference???

Looks to me to be a GB Ram. And by the following seems to be a Female as well.

Male


The male will have long black colored 'spikes' extending vertically out from the tip of the dorsal closest to the head.
The dorsal is most often pointed at the tip facing the caudal fin.
The male is larger; the pelvic fins are larger.

Female

The female will have a pinkish colored pelvic region.
The dorsal is rounded at the end.

Thanks for the great info, chaos....i still have one more question....do you need special setup for them to mate?? or do i just need to provide a place for the female to lay their eggs on and they will spawn???

Ps. Are there any signs that a male is interested in another female??? (like for example the male guppy does that mating dance....)

That looks like a golden ram to me and a male. Its spikes are much longer than a females at that age.

It's not a gold ram

How big is he/she? It might be too young to sex at this point and may also be why it's laking mature color.
