Not really sure if this is an emergency as such, but anyway.
Noticed today my German Blue Ram has a single white spot on his dorsal fin, can be seen from both sides of the fin, and they are not occuring anywhere else on his body or any other fins.

My female dwarf gourami had one just like it a while back, and her one never grew or multiplied.

Anyway, not sure what on earth it could be.. doesn't look like Ich or white spot really, although ironically it is indeed a white spot.
Here's a photo of it, you can see it towards the rear of the dorsal fin, a perfect white circle.
Anyone know whats the deal here?

Could certainly be whitespot depending if you have made any new additions in the last few weeks. I would watch it very closely and be prepared to treat. White spot, while common, is very easily treated especially in the early stages.

I would probably increase water changes for the time being.

I would say that's ick, if any more come on any fish treat them for ick. Cranking up the temperature in the tank to 28c speeds up its life cycle, but I have never had rams I don't know if they can take the heat.

Darn i'm really hoping it's neither of those!

Yeah I have indeed made new additions, this last week I added 6 Rummy nose Testras and yesterday added 3 Corydoras Serbai.
Might do a decent size water change later today..

Would it hurt to treat for white spot now even if unsure yet?
What are the effects of white spot medication on a planted, community tank that's full cycled? Is it smart to treat them all in case they all have it, or should I only treat the Ram in a separate hospital tank?

Ky, the fish in this tank are 6 Rummy Nose, 3 Cory, 3 Kribensis, 1 Neon Dwarf Gourami and 1 German Blue Ram, I'm not really sure if any of them can take 28 celsius, but perhaps.

If you want to treat I would personally use coppersafe at 1/2 dose w/o any heat adjustments. I usually quarantine all fish and run them through a 1/2 copper treatment regardless when I get them. Whitespot is just too common and its easy and safe to treat for if caught early so I usually treat regardless. 1/2 dose in my experience is usually enough to get rid of light cases of whitespot.

Update.. It has weirdly all but disappeared (Just a little over 3 hours after my original post)... Hoping it wasn't the cyst/egg sack stage and has popped spreading white spot throughout the tank, hoping it was just a weird little bump.. I didn't even get a chance to treat it

Just water change and keep an eye on them, I have 6 rummy nose tetra they are great little guys
