Hi all, I recently purchased a German blue Ram from my lfs,(had to wait outside for them to fetch it me) due to lockdown, however after I got home I realised he had a white patch on his side,it's since got larger and turned dark with like a fungus attached to it,I've been treating with Esha 2000 for the last 6 days but stopped today as it was supposed to be a 3 days course but I figured this was bad and continued for 3 extra days. Doesn't seem to be improving much at all, if anyone could give any insight as to what disease this is and what if anything I could do I'd be greatly appreciative,I'll try and post some pictures shortly. Thanks in advance

What are your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels?

Probably fungus. Do a 75% water change every day for two weeks

Ammonia 0 nitrate 15 nitrite 0. Thanks for your reply I'll make sure you to change the water everyday! Does this look treatable to you? Hoping it's not gone to far.thanks for your reply

I think it will be. Do the water changes as keep us posted with any changes.

What sized tank is it and what tankmates does he have?

Do you know what your GH is? You should be able to find this on your local water providers website. Need the number and the unit of measurement.

Some of these questions do not immediately connect with the issue but will in the long run

My GH is 13. Probably not suitable for rams, but I opted for locally bread in local water to compensate for this.thanks

Yeah I think it's too hard for rams, but I could be wrong. Being locally bred may help a little but not really. Their bodies arent made for water different from their natural habitat:)

Can't tell if it's fungus from the pictures but the easiest way to treat fungus is with salt.
Add 2 heaped tablespoons of rock salt, sea salt, or swimming pool salt for every 20 litres of water. Keep the salt in there for 2 weeks.

If you do water changes while using salt, add salt to the new water before it's added to the tank so the salinity (salt level) in the tank remains stable.

Just regular supermarket sea salt? Will definitely start this tomorrow I've read about it in the past but adding salt to my aquarium just scares me lol, thanks for the reply

Any salt that does not have iodine or additives in will be fine. Avoid table salt.

If the supermarket has sea salt flakes or crystals that you put in a grinder, that is fine.
