What do you like? That question is so broad without knowing the parameters of your tank and such that it would take a LONG time to answer.

It might not be wise to take anything difficult to care for in a nano as the paramaters can vary massively and be very difficult to control!

Its a big step into nano's I glad I didnt have no more stock than I did in my nano!

gobies, you could make it a damsel species tank since those things are very hardy but pretty violent.....

If it's going to be the only occupant in a nano, there should be no problem with it - they won't need to catch it.

If you want an interesting fish, try jawfish.

If this was my tank I'd stick about 12lb of high quality live rock in there with some live sand as subtrate. Then I would get myself a couple of small snails, 1 maybe 2 dwarf hermit crabs (blue legged) along with a scarlet/skunk cleaner shrimp! Depending on what lighting you have in the tank I would possible have a few mushrooms (different colours) and a maybe a colony of zoanthids depending if you got good lighting or not!

As for fish I would stick with 1 fish that does not grow too big (over 3") eg. a small goby, blenny, royal gramma, jawfish or even a firefish. The choice is yours but I personally like the neon blue goby as not only is it colourful and hardy, but it hardly reaches 2" so would not stress the bio-load of the tank!

I would not exceed more livestock than the above as it would too much stress on the tank and could cause it to crash! If you think that is too less than it might be worth getting a bigger tank as it would also help make it a bit easier to maintain!

This is only my opinion though and there may be others that disagree so it it entirely up to you but whatever happens do not be tempted into buying that 1 extra fish or overstock the tank as it may result in nasty consequences!

Also it might be worthwile reading tank journals of other members on this site along with other sites that have kept or currently keeping a 12G nano cube. This way you can see what they have got in their tanks so and so know if you might have the same success with the with it in your tank! Not only will you see other people's experiences but you may also pick up a few tips along with some do's and dont's!!

good suggestions ..its certainley got me thinkin..i might not have any fis and just inverts cos they interest me more.......i bought more live rock now theres about 15 lb in there...my middle compartment is currently empty and im gonna buy some liver rock and chaeto and stick a light in the hood....i'll post sum pics soon....an for some reason my water isnt as clear as it should be...i've done water changes and everythin but it still remains quite cloudy...any ideas why?

So heres my new layout it looks great, lots of crevices and ledges, bought some corals and hermit crabs and im well on my way to havin a great lookin tank....still need that live rock rubble thougho scrap the other pic this is the knew version:
