I find the most disturbing is people who say they're experienced in any way & give poor advice based on only what they were told rather than what they research themselves. To be fair on these people, when you buy a bird, the person you're buying off you really do expect to be experienced & give good knowledgeable advice. Petty this doesn't always happen.

I assume we are talking about our winged friends here not thai brides?

Seriously though I can relate as about 15 years back my mum bought an african grey parrot and wasn't advised what to feed him. She fed him parrot food obviously ( which is a selection of seeds, mostly sunflower). Unfortunatly what these birds need plenty of is fruit and a few seeds, while he did get some fruit it was not nearly enough...the vet suggested as much when we had to euthanize him. He lived around 5 years when they should live 20-30+.

I still miss the little guy. He was probably smarter than most humans the amount of words he said. A couple of my fav things he said was 'oi oi sexy' and 'bollox' I could go on. He even nodded his head and moved like he was dancing.

Birds are amazing creatures but they do need ALOT of time and tlc.(parrots when kept on their own are particularly true of this) Correct diet and accommodation is of course vital for birds wellbeing.
