Is there a bests mix of gender for Platys?? I started with a male and female and added another male and female, the female is fine but the new male died in about a day and a half. His replacement did the same. Should you only have one male with several females, similar to how a group of mamals usually is??

A nice group for livebearers are a 1:2 ratio. Unless the particular platy you bought is a sex machine, like some tend to be, this will be fine as a bare minimum, and will fair fine in a tank. One male for every two females. I know this works for guppies, and Ive kept platies in these amounts and they seemed fine. The male switches between the two.

Good Luck! ;)

BTW i'm her son so we have the same fish.

I actually don't know when theyr'e mating the male keeps going up to the original female, and nudges her with his nose, he was also in the tank with this fish at the store so. He attempts to mate with the other one but she runs away.
