Gender Difference Between Blue Crayfish

Yes. But it is difficult to see. You have to look at the legs under the abdomen. The genital openings on males and females are in different places. Explaining without a picture is difficult. But a little time on Google or reference to an undergraduate invertebrate zoology text book should reveal the answers.

Some crayfish species have obvious colour differences. If your blue crayfish is Cherax quadricarinatus (one of the species sold under this name) the male has red patches on his claws *when he reaches sexual maturity*.

Cheers, Neale

is there a way to tell the difference between a male and female?
