hey all,

busy with the new tank,

how would you rate

3 x Geiseman 80 watt T5's aqua blue plus
1 x Geiseman 80 watt Atnic atnic

all will be running on geiseman electronic ballasts

will that do the job for reef tank? tank is 700mm deep 2000mm long and 500mm wide

Its totally what you like for the look. After about 3 months just about any coral will adapt to the lighting scheme.

IF IT WERE ME (and its not, and it really doesnt matter) but if it were. I like 3 ab + and one 11k (12k? whatever they are calling their white bulb). If you have access to the ATI the white looks more white from them.

Do you have one or two plugs? That can matter if you want to run 4 for 8-12 hours and two of them 4 hours.

The full actinic doesn't has as much PAR as the others. But, if you have lots of green it helps them "pop" colors.

You could get 5 bulbs, then you would have a spare... which is prudent.

they say the geiseman aquablue is 11 000 k and 6500 atnic

so 3 of them and one full atnic ...

they will run on there own electronic ballast, yeah ill be getting 2 spares as well hehe

will i be ok with corals

thanks

any combonation will be ok (excluding going full out with full actinics). There is supprisingly more PAR from the blue pluss than the aquablue (since the aquablue is far brighter to your eye). The most PAR is from GE day... but they are ugly.

I run frag tanks with just blue pluss and the corals are just fine.

What do you like in a look.

full actinic look purple and pop green colors.

blue pluss look blue and pop most colors (other than some red pigments(each color can have different pigments effected by different spectrums)... blue fungia look like pale skin under black lights, lol) 90% of the colors look good under this. Pink birds nest looks nasty under actinics IMO.

11k good general natural looking colors but still pop many pigments.

I like three blue pluss one aquablue. JIMO

HTH
