I am going to buy some terracotta plant pots and makes some caves out of them, but i hate the colour, is there any way i can use paint or something to make them look nice, instead of dull.

I did read the thread below about clays pots, its a good idea using silicone and then use gravel on it, i might give that ago but ideally i would like to paint them?

Regards

You would have to find a paint that is safe for use inside a aquarium.

I've never seen any myself but i'm sure you will be able to buy some fom somewhere.

Maybe try a google search?

Yeh i did but i cant seem to find much.

You could always use kids poster paint (that stuff is harmless) and then paint over it with a eurathane varnish. Most eurathane varnises are fish-safe, but check first.

the pond paint only has two colours...not much variety there. You could find a local potter and have them make you some pots and glaze them the colors you desire. It's always nice to support locals. I believe the only things you really need to look out for are the maturity of the clay used...whether it contains manganese sulfur or barium. It may contain sulfur but it needs to be small amounts...I haven't been able to get a clear % of safe sulfur so I tend to avoid it all together. And with the glaze it needs to be food safe...which means no lead.

I only want black anyway, so it should work out nicely

awesome. If your still considering the sand and silicone route I have seen black tahitian moon sand siliconed to terra cotta colored flower pots and it looked very nice, in case you were a bit apprehensive about the appearance.

Buy the ceramic pots, coat them with aquarium safe silicon gell, roll the plant pot in some clean gravel, huzzah, bobs your uncle.
