wel as some of you may know my tank broke and has done alot of damage to the systme and my house. As a result of the leak im having to have 4 weeks of building work to have the plaster replaced to have the concrete in four rooms dryed and dehumidified, skirting boards refitted, total redecoration, new sofas and new carpets in the four rooms. So it is with a unhappy face but I am out of this hobby. y tank is closed down for business for good.

The water came from my rio 2400 that supplies my skimmer. The pipe came off and sprayed the wall which somehow has seeped through to the hall, family room and shoe cupboard. The water almost channeled through the underlay travelling up the front room and just destroyed it all. The skirting boards on both sides of the wall are now also begining to warp away from the wall.

Jesus....

So your qutting the hobby?

why quit?

Dont let this stop you from doing something you love.

Sorry this happened to you :(

I guess you mean Rio 240?

I had a 300 smash when completely full, it's a lot of water, but i can't imagine it being enough to cause that much damage?

EDIT: although yours went straight on the wall, still cant see it causing that much damage, but i am not calling you a liar, not at all, it sucks anyway, sorry to hear it. I was also on hand straight away to start mopping up and damage control! I guess you were not home at the time?

It did mess up my laminate flooring, but not beyond repair (EDIT: not repairable, but i can live with it, small part of it is slightly raised from ground level) and my carpets took over a week to dry out and it stunk the flat out.

I was expecting to hear you say a 1000 litre tank or something smashed?

Sorry to hear about your aggro though

Or are you actually referring to 2400 litres?

nope it was only a 90 litre tank . God knows how the damage has got so bad :S had the flood experts out today and they were the ones to tell us how bad it was, we thought that it was just the carpet.

I live alone, if i was living with someone, i am sure she would have questioned my committment to the hobby and wanted me to quit. Fish water everywhere creates a major STINK!!!

Actually any great amount of water on carpet can create a bad smell!

Am Sorry to hear this happend!! i worry everyday somethink wil pop off / come losse / or crack :(

Thats awfull ... salt water is bad news in general sadly due to its corrosive nature and yes that fishy small gets everywhere :(
Makes me glad I run mine with no sump. Would hate to think what 100g of water would do :(
