Thought I'd share a few piccies of my Giant African Land Snails. I've got several different species, they're fairly addictive (so easy to keep).
My achatina fulicas (bog standard ones you'll find in your pet shop - but so pretty too):
Our first ever land snail - Sam
Layla
Cooper (he may be a cross with another species as his previous owner had a mixed tank)
Fidget (who came to me with very poor shell growth along with her "brother" Widget, they've only just started growing again)
Widget
Coco
Clover (clibing on Jasper)
Roger
Ebay (self explanatory name!) the youngest of them all. still a baby
My achatina immaculatas - different variants
Gary (immaculata two-tone - formally known as dimidiatas or blonde GALS) - who along with his sister Sally have had very poor growth, immac two-tones are notoriously hard to raise
Sally (same as Gary) - she's only 2.5cm shell length despite coming to us last year
Phil (immaculata panthera)
Selmo (same as Phil but just a baby - can you guess where I got their names from?)
My achatina smithiis (un-named as yet):
Hard to believe they were only this big in the middle of May
My achatina iredalei, Bruce:
My archachatina marginatas (margies for short) - much much bigger than the other snail:
Columbia (margie suturalis x ovum) - just a juvie, got a lot of growing to do yet
Boycie (margie ovum) - approx 16cm+ shell length
Marlene (margie ovum) - 14cm roughly (on the right)
Boo (pale fleshed margie ovum) - slightly smaller
Magenta (my baby margie suturalis who died yesterday)
My unknown mix ups:
Jasper (possibly a fulica cross achatina albopicta, or even full albopicta - again from the lady with the mixed tank)
Stripey snail (no name yet - he's either an immaculata panthera striped form or achatina smithii) - shall get a piccie of him later as the one I have on Photobucket is old.
I'm addicted to taking pics of them, as you can probably tell
