Gallons???

I recently was give a tank from a frind who was moving and did not want to take it with him. It is fairly large, 40x17x16. How many gallons do you think it can hold?
It is the home to about 30 Convict Cichlids. 3 are about 4 inches, the largest is 4.5 inches and the rest are very small.
P.S. this is my first posting and Im looking foward to reding you.

Your tank works out to about 47 gallons.

You should start deciding which convicts you are going to keep. That size tank will only hold somewhere between six and ten adults depending on your husbandry skills.
