just wondered, whats the difference between an uk gal (i think its called an imperial gallon... not sure though!!) and a us gal???

just wondered cos would that mean you can get more fish into a us gal tank than a uk gal tank (or vice versa), using your country's measurement of a gallon, if you were going by the 1" of fish per gal rule?!

sorry its a bit long winded, and i'm not trying to cram more fish into my tank or anything, just wondered... :shifty:

A US Gallon = 3.78541 Litres
An Imperial = 4.54609 Litres.

Thus an Imperial gallon is larger than a US gallon. Most people here seem to use US gallons. The 1" of fish per gallon "rule" is a very poor rule. The surface area of the tank is the important factor. A 10 gallon rectangular tank can safely accomodate more fish than a 10 gallon hexagonal tank for example.
