I'd like some first hand, or something, info on them.

1: Minimum tank size - 5? 3? 2.5?
2: Diet
3: Full size
4: Do they like any plants in particular, e.g, swimming through val?
5: Do they jump?
6: How do they breed? Or what conditions do you need? (e.g, PH, temperature (cooler, right?)

Great! Was thinking about this... but do you know of anything cheaper? located in the US. I have some spare 2.5 but I have a feeling they would be too small, eh? Do you know where to find cheap java moss?

Hey K.J,

I don't know what quantity of Java Moss you are looking for but you might be able to pick them up from the aquarium society member. You can get to the GSAS web and ask, they might have some to part with cheap since I see the bag of extra plants at the meeting. We usually have mini auction for fish and plants at the monthly meeting. And sometime nobody want for the common plants for $1.
You can also ask about the tank at web site, sometime people have spare tank that want to get rid of.

BTW, I am planning to bring some extra Red Cherry Shrimps to the next month meeting.

The Galaxy rasbora has been officially described as celestichthys margaritatus .it is a very colourful little fish and was only discovered about a year ago since then it has reached almost every pet shop in the UK . After seeing these beautiful fish in my local pet shop I just at to have some. i Purchased three young pairs when I got these fish home I put them in a 24 x8 x8 fish tank
i Fed them plenty of live food they soon grew on to mature adults. i then put them in a 3 foot long breeding tank which is heavily planted the fish spent most of the time hiding in the plants they soon settled down and spawned. i left the fry in the same tank. the adults don't seem to bother them I have seen at least 12 fry at one end of the tank i am sure there are more hiding in the plants. i feed
the fry on vinegar eels and microworm then newly hatched brine shrimp. my tank water is quite hard p .h. of about 7.8 and a temperature of 72 F.-22 c. these fish seem to be a very peaceful fish and easy to breed both sexes are same colour males have brighter fins. i find the adults stay at the bottom of the tank and the fry spend most of the time between the middle and the top of tank water i found that after the fry were about 5 to 6 weeks old they would start to swim in and out of the plants with the adults.

You will find a lot of information on this thread about breeding CPD's.

Another enterprising young chap has set up a forum specifically about breeding them. The downside is that he nicked some peoples photo's without asking.. anyways.. you may glean some info from there as well.

For the official info on everything about the fish read this it is 4Mb so you may have to wait until it has downloaded.

As for your specific questions

Diet - I feed mine a combination of frozen baby brine shrimp and flake. Am considering trying some frozen daphnia too.

Size, sexing, plans and colour info see the science paper.

Breeding - easy.. see the petfrd thread.

Never seen mine jump - but they are a very shy and skittish fish.

Hope this helps
