Hello peeps, looking to getting a shoal of 8 -10 of these but information is not all forthcoming on the internet and would like to know ideal temps and current flows that have worked for you if you dont mind! Also if yours are readily eating flake, etc :good: Any ph and hardness should watch out for?

mine eat tetra prima mico granules

I have 6 of them in a 35 cm cube, with 2 filters at 100lph and they are fine, and always swim around the tank. They are quite skittish though, and will often hide if you go up to the tank!

Mine have grown out of that though, after 1 year, but used to scat everywhere when I went to the tank lol

Good luck with getting some, they are quite rare and expensive, but they are fabulous fish and rewarding if you keep them right, as theirs colours are fantastic!

thanks very much fishkeeperpro :good: I have ph 8 hard water, the local has them in the same and hope they will be ok in a planted setup with cories at the bottom and couple of shrimp and that is it. They caught my eye todya and really are absolutely gorgeous

I've got 6 of them, they're really cool. They always look a bit dull in the shops but look totally different when you get them home. Mine tend to wait for food to fall but sometimes venture to the surface and they're a bit slower than my tetras so I have to watch to make sure they get some food.

thanks for that stephentw. Luckily they will only have cories and shrimp to contend with but really good to know that so I dont addd anything too aggressive :good: thanks so much for the help guys, you have been brilliant.

Oh can I ask what temps you are all keeping them at?

Mine are at about 26 degrees.

One thing I would like to know is what would be the minimum group to start with as being quite expensive fish can see adding to them over time but would like to know what a minimum starter group would be to trial and also ensure they arent overly stressed, though they will be the only midwater fish with cories, so fairly peaceful.

Hi Amy

I don't keep these but hope this website helps :)

http://celestialpearldanio.com/

They have a forum too.

Thanks for that hon! I actually discovered that this morning, and have been trying to add myself to the forum so I can learn more but unfortunately cant interpret the security codes  thanks for the heads up xxxxx

Scrap that, my partner has just interpretted the psychedlelic thingies for me loL!

I have 6 and they seem fairly happy they don't really shoal too much together but seem to hang out with my neons and embers some of them are loners though. I had more but lost a few, they looked weaker when I bought them though. They sometimes are a bit rubbish in shops, make sure you get nice plump healthy looking ones not the ones with the bent spines, they're quite weak.

I want to ask this same question.
I'm planning on getting some Galaxy's in a few weeks and since they are awfully expensive i only really want to get four to begin with. Would that be ok? I could eventually up the numbers to six but probably not until September
