Hello, I am interested in getting some of these little fish, as they are quite small and reasonably priced at my LFS (£1.99)

However I cannot find them in the Fish Species Index.

Are they in the wrong place or is there not an article about them??

thanks

Awesome looking fish that are fairly new to the hobby and only found in one or two places in the wild. I know there was a danger that they were going to be wiped out if collection continued at the rate they were going.

There was an article in PFK about them a while ago so could be worth searching their webite. They do seem very cheap that you have at your LFS, are you looking at breeding them?? I think people need to be looking to do this to safe-guard the species.

as far as im aware they are only captive breed now and you carnt buy wild species hence the price.

you have a pm hope it helps :good:

A few are captive breed but sinapore are building up the breeeding stock.

So most are from the wild.

Mine took 6 months to put on enough weight to breed, and they only produce an odd egg now and then.
The fry are easy to rear, and seen then rear them with the adults in the tank (fish48 did this many times) and so have i.
Fry feed on micro eel's and then brine shrimp and took 6 month to get half grown but start to develop the adult colouration.

I breed them in hard water at 72F and just left them to it

very few are captive breed, they have found 2 new locations o fthem so wild fish are mainly collected still but no longer from lake irane (spelling?).
this is why they are so poor when comeing into the country

From what I hear they are being captive bred in large numbers now. The last ones I purchased were tiny but very healthy.

I'm sure if you find healthy fish in shop's their be from farmed fish. These fish from wild always look so skinny and poor looking and i find they always take ages to recover.
