This might sound weid to some. I have neon tetras and I just got 4 galaxy danios that's all the lfs had were 4. When I said I will take them all the girl bagging the fish was surprised. I guess most people only get one because of the price being $6.

Anyways they all adjusted really well to their new home my 10 gal planted tank. This is the weird part I feel like the galaxy are smarter and they just do more. They are always exploring and swimming around fighting each other. Where my neons just kind of hang out the school and swim around but they seem brain less. Anyone notice that or is it just me.

I love the bright color if the neons but I am thinking I might move them to another tank and get more galaxy.

What would you do? Keep the mix school of neons and galaxies or get more galaxies?

Id never heard of galaxy danio so I looked them up. There's a lot of chatter on the internet about them being over-fished in the wild and in danger......I wonder if it is possible to find out if yours are bred in captivity?

They look great. I've got zebra danios. They are not flashy but they are very active and fun

good luck

Iv got both and love them both, but you are right about the galaxys "doing more"

I paid £20 for 8, but was actually given 12, i have 16 now but plan on getting more, around 20 - 30 i think.

Il also get more neon as i like the contrast of the different behaviours in the tank

I've kept both, Celestial Pearl Danio's are definitely the better of the two, a much more attractive, fresh and less generic species, they do take quite a while to become bold and from experience will do best on their own in a tank, they'll readily breed in home aquaria too which is great, mine spawned numerous times but I made no effort to rear the fry as they're so small, always buy tank bred when you have the option.

I have always wanted a school of these in one of my 10 gallon planted tanks. I have seen them in my lfs but everytime i go they are all sold out or on hold for someone :(

Ask them to put some on hold for you. If they are holding for other customers, they will hold for you as well. :good: I've got some Trigonostigma espei on hold for me until next Thursday. (They don't arrive to the store until next Tuesday.)

i have one celestial danio as i have 6 other different breeds of danio and like the idea of different looking fish shoaling. plus would be awesome to get a high bred. :hyper: however my celestial wants nothing to do with my other danios and shoals with my neons and cardinals  silly little thing. but no i think they are pretty and they do more, i think it depends on how much you value colour differences in your tank

Well my 10 gal is now for my 8 galaxy danio and rcs shrimp. I love these fish. The 4 I got from the lfs a golden in the fins. The ones I bought online are more red fined. My tank has lots of plants so these guys are always out looking cute. Not sure if they are raised or wild.

I read they are not endangered and that was a rumor. These fish breed like crazy and have been found in more then one area. Some pounds are so hard to get to they are untouched. Many are now being bred in captivity so it's ok. No need to worry these little fish are fine.

They've not yet been evaluated so whether they're endangered or not is not fully known, but it is highly likely that this species is highly endangered, buy tank bred when you have the option.
