Well, this happened about 5 minutes ago and practically gave me a heart attack!

I was at my mums' desk doing my drama assignment, and I glanced over to my bettas' tank on my desk just to check up on my new boy I got on Sunday. I couldn't see him... waited, didn't see the betta.

I got up and crept over to the tank, hoping I was going to see him adding to the massive Bubblenest he created last night. But he wasn't there.

I was so freaked out, I thought he'd jumped! I was about to check under my desk when I remembered there was a cover on the tank. 'This can't be right...' I thought. I was scanning the tank, looking everywhere for a flash of red or the swish of a tail.

Then I heard the marbles on the tank bottom clinking. I pulled the new plant out of the gravel and lo and behold, the little guy came racing to the surface and took several breaths. It freaks me out to think how long he'd been there.

Turns out the little psycho had been exploring his new silk plant I got him today. It has this little bucket thing that you pile substrate into to act as an anchor and he'd got wedged UNDER that.

Lucky I'm paranoid when it comes to my fishies. :p

Thanks. :)

He has added onto his bubblenest now... acting like nothing ever happened.

Has anyone got any ideas for names? I haven't chosen one yet. :*) He's a pure red veiltail, and is a bit jittery but very active.

"Lucky" or "Dosy" spring to mind.
