i have a gold gourami which has a big white spot on his head i asked the guy who works at my lfs and he said that the fishes scales will grow back because tthe fish must have scratched them off somewhere

i dunno if u can see what im talking about from that picture but its located on top of the gouramis head

Hard to see from that picture but my oscars head was white (think he hit his head jumping up for food) with scales hanging off. They did grow back and he is all grey now again, hard to tell if your fish has done the same thing though. Can you see any loose scales???

He might have been flashing. Check your ammonia levels and if they are any more than 0 then that could be the reason. Your fish won't stop doing it until the ammonia levels are fixed and he could possibly die.
But if they are fine then don't worry about it, yes they do grow back just like our skin.
