Just to be realistic, there aren't any real "true FW" bbg's, the reason i say this is that there is a common misnomer that they're mostly brackish. The reality is, they don't care. This isn't from my own experience, this is from an interview I did some time ago now with Naomi Deventhal, a gobiologist who wrote a section in NMonks book of brackish water fishes.

Nice glassfish by the way! Bit of a glassfish fan myself. Very entertaining fish... and again, often misunderstood to be brackish water fishes when in fact they prefer the usual neutral, moderately hard water of other Southeast Asian species.

As for BBGs, the story is complex; while Naomi is certainly correct that they are found in freshwater habitats as much as brackish water ones, they do tend to be easier to maintain in brackish water aquaria. Frank Schaefer puts this down to simply being able to keep them constantly supplied with brine shrimp! In any even, my feeling is most specimens die because of lack of food. I have two in a freshwater planted tank, and they hardly seem to eat anything. They have lived there for at least a year though, and my assumption is that they eat baby cherry shrimps (there are dozens of adult cherry shrimps in there).

Cheers, Neale

Thanks Neale/Fella,

I prefer to get the ones with whole bandingand not bittyblack stripes.AS IME there is a difference between the 2. the bitty ones are duller and less hardy thean th whole banded ones.

yeah i love Glass fish i go balck and blue tipped ones.
they have all ben eating bloodwor this afternoon and i never need to worry about the BBG's not eating wit the amount of fry in the tank.

Either way they're great fish, I should really consider getting some more and dedicating a tank to them...
