I set this up in my Aquarium, but could not get any flow from the outlet tube, must have pumped the filter 50 times but nothing, just a lot of gurgling and no flow, took it off and put the outlet hose back on to the filter, and it worked perfectly, can't understand why it didn't work, did I stupidly put the inlet hose onto the UVC, can't imagine I would do that, any ideas,

I presume its connected to a fluval canister? Id check whether it connected on the right line, and that the aquastop valve was open but if it was, it sounds like your fluval canister isn't priming, which can be difficult with fluval canisters. My solution would be to detach the aquastop valve, get a bucket, open the aquastop valve and suck on the inlet hose to get water flowing. Do this over the bucket so you don't make a mess. Then close and reattach the aquastop valve. This should have primed the canister.

Open the valve and start up your filter again and it should flow through the UV Clarifier.

I always fill the canister before putting the lid on. For a canister the hoses should be as short as possible and as vertical as possible. This really makes a difference.

Would you attach the tubes back on to the clarifier before sucking the inlet tube, and why did it work straight away when I took it off the clarifier, and the tube back onto the filter

The canister was full of water, and had been working okay, its when I attached it to the clarifier it wouldn't work.

Then there is something blocking the clarifier. Are you sure you opened the aquastop valve before turning on the filter? Could you try just running water through it with a hose? Have you tried re-attaching the clarifier again now you know the canister is primed?

It doesn't really matter if the UV on the wrong line, it should still let water flow through it and work, although having it on the wrong line, it will get dirty quicker. There is no check valve, so it should run if connected backwards. Its a pretty foolproof bit of kit, unless its faulty.

I can blow through one of the clarifier hose connectors and there air coming out the other end, so I don't think it's blocked he hoses are straight, only there is a bend were you attach the hose from the adaptor to the cylinder

Not yet, with having this bother and a nitrite spike, I'm going to leave it for a month, the filter will need a clean, so when I do this I will give it another try. Anyway I will have to empty the hoses of water I think to connect it to the clarifier

I am using the Fluval UVC Clarifier and have no problems.

My clarifier is under the tank near the canister filter output. So mine is sitting on top and bolted to the bottom of an inverted 5-gallon bucket next to the output of the filter. That setup works great.

Can you post a picture of your clarifier setup with your tank?
