Ok I found my old Fuval 302 from my last tank, it will need new hoses and well everything but the canister.

I dont mind buying the extra's to make it a complete filter again (providing its not more then a new filter with everything).

My question is this.
The filter is for up to 75 gallons, so this will be over fitlering, but will this over fitlering mean that the return to the tank is going to create too stong of a current?

or should I just do a big return that just kinda dumps into the tank rather then use the bar with all the holes in it.

The filter is a few years old now, I would say 6 years actually. I dont know if that matters.

Yep the age matters...
If your replacing parts... get the new version of the aquastop conector for the hoses.
They updated it and the new one has built in stop valves that will allow you to turn down the flow ;)

Thanks,

I Only have the filter itself and the trays inside it right now. I guess I will go and get the rest here tonight.

I should leave my hang on going for a week befor taking it off right?

a week minimum...
either that or put the media from the existing filter into one of the baskets of the fluval ;)
