With feeding my Zebra pleco bloodworms, I worried that (as some of the fish also pinch the bloodworms)

The other fish are eating too much protein, should I be worried?

If so im trying to figure a new feeding routine that the Zebra gets fed enough and the others don't get too much protein, a kind of balance

Any suggestions please

I have a mixture of Bloodworms, Flake, algae wafers (that the other fish try to pinch too) and brine shrimp, the Zebra is in my main tank as shown below in my sig

Cheers

All fish eat bloodworm. I wouldn't worry too much as long as you vary the diet by putting waffers in one day, bloodworm in the next day. If you want to feed the pklecs every night buy different frozen foods, work out what they like and then vary the olnes they like. That way all fish get a varied diet and your Zebra Plec will be happy.

Hi Try feeding your Zebra Plec some scalded lettuce leaves about a half hour after the tank lights have been turned off. This type of plec can be difficult to get feeding when firt introduced in to an aquarium and can be very skittish untill they settle down. I have found that they will take frozen shrimp or prawns if they soaked in fresh water to get the salt out and then squashed a bit before feeding them to your fish

If I may, I have albino brisle nose plecos. They love green beans, french cut, pole beans. I cook them from fresh, no salt or any type of seasoning. Cool them and give a few once in awhile. I put the rest in the freezer and take them out once a week. They love them. Also given other greens lightly cooked. :D Glee

as far as i'm aware Zebra pleco's will only eat meaty foods like bloodworms shrimp etc
True Alien Spawn, they are one of the Plecos that prefer more meaty foods, however, they will still take a willing nibble of an algae wafer. Although in the past my Zebras have not excepted wafers for the first month or so in the aquarium they soon adapt and will feed more willingly on a variety of foods. The main problem with Zebras is their unwillingness to compete for food with other larger and more boisterous companions. It is sometimes adviced to use a quarantine tank for these fish on their own, using the main tanks water so they can adapt in the same conditions while stocking up and feeding well, so they are more prepared for the big tank. I wouldn't be worried about to much protien.

I feed my Plecs on a variety of foods, wafers and sinking catfish pellets everyday and more meaty foods like Bloodworms and Brine Shrimp every other day. When I feed I will place food where the Plecs are hiding and place the same food in the open so the other fish eat this rather than the hidden food giving the Plecs more of a chance. :)

Good Luck
