Iv had my first betta now for just over a week and he dosnt seem to have eaten anything since i got him? Hes in a community tank with tetras, danios and a very greedy paradise fish. At first I thought he was just slow to the food but on closer observation he dosnt seem intrested, he just watches the flakes float past and then swims away. So i got him some bloodworms to see if hes just a fussy eater but again no luck. Hes very quite and hides most of the time, but seems heathy to the eye. I feed them once a day, flakes, bloodworm and the occasional veg. I dont know what to do?
Do Bettas need special food? And if so can my other fish eat it too?
Thanks

Almost all bettas enjoy pellets, wether they're Hikari or Betta Bites, etc.
He was probably raised on pellets, and thats why he's not eating the unfamiliar flaked food. I'm not sure what kind of flakes they are, so maybe he can eat them, but he's probably not going to benefit too much from the veggies, being carnivorous. Try some pellets and hopefully he'll eat again. He could also be a little stressed suddenly being in with all those other fish, so that could hinder his apetite.

He may not be happy in a community tank, many do better on their own. Do you have room for a 1-5 gal tank or bowl? Maybe try him solitary and see how he does there

every once in a while i wish i had that problem. my two bettas are little piggys. they eat anything. i have a couple snails in my 5g with one of my boys and i tried to put in part of an algae wafer for the snails and the eli (my betta) ate most of it! i tried to chase him away from it, but he'd swim away, scowl at me, and then go back to guarding/eating it again. i had to put him on a diet!
