"furry" bogwood

I added a couple of pieces of bogwood to my newly set up tank (for decoration purposes only). The next day I noticed a furry growth on the bogwood. This seems to have gone now but Im just curious as to what it was.

Hiya.
It was probably on there when you bought it and the tank water washed it away. Either that or smoe algae. Shouldn't worry though. Strange things appear and disappear in tanks.

I had that on some of mine when it first went into the tank, like a grey mould? I think its some sort of bacteria or fungus, it, like yours, dissapeared quickly and has had no ill affects on my tank or fish, and that was three months ago.
