I have 10 furcata rainbowfish, various sizes both male and female, and have just set up a spawning mop for when they and my small clown killifish may at some point lay eggs.

My PH levels, tank suitability, etc, are as close to perfect for these fish as can be. I also have lots of floating Hornwort, not sure if they may lay eggs on these plants also?

Please can you tell me what colour/size the eggs are and an a-z step of how to manage/care for the eggs in order to hatch successfully? Also any tips on how to care for fry? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Very few very large eggs (close to 1.5mm). Very long time to hatch, 3 weeks at 80F. Change water daily or every other day. The fry that is born is very large, ready for artemia within hours (this is the primary food for the first month), but quality powder food and/or paramecium is good to supplement with.
Hornwort: I suspect they will leave some eggs on it. I never kept Furcata with hornwort, but I kept Sigs with it and most eggs ended up deposited on the plants... I had to change the plant.

Good luck.
