Ok i posted this in fish chat but since then the situation has got a little more serious, basically i bought some Platties last saturday and have now found that 3 of the 5 have fungus in their mouths. My question is whats the best treatment without causing water quality issues? I have some Protozin would this be suitable?

TIA

i would clean the tank they are in and do a rather large water change of atleast 50%. if you are using carbon in your filters, remove it. carbon will remove all of the meds making them ineffective. over the next week slowly raise the temp to 82 degrees. raise it about a degree every other day. quick cure is pretty effective for fungus related diseases. i am not sure, but i beleive that platies are scaled fish and you can add salt to their water. add one well rounded tablespoon of salt to their tank. do water changes after the large one of about 10-20% every day before adding the meds to the tank. add salt to only the amount of replacement water.
