Hi,

As you know I have finally collected some cory eggs, I treated the 'holding' tank with methylene blue to avoid fungus growing, yet fungus has still grown??

looks like I've lost ALL the eggs :(

any suggestions why? and how to e more successful next time?

How did you move them? Did you put an air stone under the eggs? How long did it take before they got fungus on them?

Hi §tudz :)

Fungus is usually caused by either damage to the eggs, or lack of strong water circulation over them, but if the eggs haven't been fertilized, it will happen too.

How many and what kind of corys are in your spawning group?

I suggest you set up a 10 gallon spawning tank to enable them to spawn right on the glass where they will hatch from. You can put airstones directly under the patches of eggs, and since they won't have the additional risk of being handled, you should have some better luck. The young fry can then be raised right in that tank too. :D

its just a male and a female, I tried putting them in the spawning tank, but they didn't do anything. they have only spawned since I made thier tank planted

Hi §tudz :)

Since you only have one male, it's possible that the eggs are infertile. If this is the case, they cannot hatch and will always develop fungus.

For the best results with corys, it's a good idea to have 2 males for each spawning female to insure fertilization. It might be a good idea to get another male and see if that helps.

Well looks like they are fertile, I have, 3 so far baby cories. no sure when they hyatched as stayed at the gf's last night and just got in from work, I removed the bad eggs, but looks like I have another few eggs which are still viable.

woo hoo!

I've added some Interpet Liquifry, but I think they may still be consuming their yoke, I have a bryne shrimp kit so will set that up to night I think. when should I get the baby brine shrimp?
