in australia (melb) we are getting days like 40 degress and its crazy hot.
so i made up a litre of water (conditioned, aged and killed all the chlorine) and poured it into ice cube trays and made cubes....

my fish is havving a ball!!!!
and it cooles the water down if u put enough in... my water was at about 86 deg the other day....i was starting to worry....so i did a 15% water change and added ice cubes and it dropped it to 80....i was happy wit that and so where the fish!!!

just a sugestion!!

isit alllowable more experienced ppl

Of course, having something cold in the tank to cool the water is just as valid as having something hot in the water to warm it (like an electric heater)

I use frozen bottles of water to accomplish the same thing.

hi birdman
as an ex west aussie & now londoner all i can say is im v jealous its godamn freezing in london at the mo...........but we did have a hot summer ( days of 38c) & we had the same problem & filled loads of 1.5L empty plastic bottles (cool drink/milk etc)with water & froze them & plonked one of them in the tank every now and again. it brough the water t down & the fish too seemed to love it esp our danios kept swimming around & around them :)

I used the same method in the summer (freezing tank water in cube trays).

I also found that I had an outbreak of Angelfish spawning and eggs appearing everywhere!

If you have any Angel fish keep an eye on them! :)
