I purchased a variety of bits from someone I know as a 'job lot' I intended to keep this as a backup tank / quarantine / breeding tank but I already have a 10g tank which could be used for that purpose. This seems to good to just be sat in the garage waiting for a use, and the wife wants it off the kitchen table.
It's really quite a neat tank. It has the whole light unit built into the hood itself with a single 1" diameter tube in it. The tube gives a purplish sort of light. The light is fully working and tested for a few hours. The filter is built into the back of the tank, you can see on the pictures where the water goes in on the right hand side, the water then goes through a coarse sponge, it then has three seperate 'media' areas - two of these are empty and one has filter floss in it. Finally on the left hand side there is a pump. Forgot to say there is also a heater built into the filter - this is removable/replaceable - I tested this for a few minutes in the water and the on light lit up and the heater element glowed at the end.
So good bits:
It all works well, looks really nice, looks really clean with no messy wires or tubes on show.
Bad bits:
It has a homemade spray bar made by the previous owner - does the job though
On the top there is a feeding hatch which says push, you are supposed to push it down and it pops up, but the catch is missing so it doesn't pop up. Just means you have to lift the flap - could really do with a handle gluing on (or similar) to make opening the feeding hatch easier.
There are a couple of very minor scratches to the glass, can't see them on the photos - would easily polish out (when I mentioned them to the wife she had to take a real close look as she hadn't noticed them!)
I've had it filled with water for the last few days and it doesn't leak at all - you can have the stuff that's inside it (bit of sand at the bottom and some ornaments and a small peice of driftwood)
I will try to get some pics of the filter setup - was going to but my camera battery died.
Any questions please ask - collection only due to size/weight. Will stick it on ebay at the weekend if I've had no interest
