Due to a problem of cloudiness and a problem with an ornament i decided to do a full water change and wash the gravel. I put all my fish in my other tank for the time being aswell as my filter.

I washed all of the gravel to get rid of the muck and i replaced all of the water. I done this about 24hours ago, when can i place the filter and my fish back in the tank? I need to do this relatively soon as there is a little bit of fighing going on as the tank there in now is only 30 litres. The filter from the tank went from the dirty tank staright to the good tank so i think the bacteria has survived, has it? Also what about the gravel, i purposely washed the gravel under the tap as when i first got it i forgot to rinse it so there was alot of dust transferred to the tank. I have fully cleaned the gravel now.

Can i put the filter back in the tank or will the bacteria on it die? When can i put the fish back in the tank? i need to do this asap.

P.s. 3 Barbs 2 Sharks and 2 Rams in total

Cheers for your help

Fill up your tank, dechlorinate water
adapt your fish as you would with new fish and release them and add filter

your bacteria will be pretty much in perfect condition if you put the filter in the other tank right away!

i have a vacuum but there was far too much sh1t float around the tank for that to be any use.

The filter is an Elite Stingray rated for 75Litres

The water looks crystal clear now so i muct have done a good cleaning job. ;-)

Can I suggest that you do a kind of water change, just before you put the fish in, taking some (say 25%) water out of the tank they're currently in and putting that in the 'new' tank (obviously you'll need to take the same amount of water out of the 'new' tank first!). This way the bacteria will have some ammonia to munch on while the fish get around to producing their own (it's unlikely to make much difference, but might be a good idea...).
