I knew guppies were small, but I didn't realise how small until I went to buy some. Most of the books quote 1"-1.5" but for the ones I've seen the body is a lot less than that, and the tail MIGHT get the length up to raound 1.0".

What length should I be looking for to breed ?
Also, what iis the ratio - 1m/3f ?

1" is very small, but that's what happens when the breed starts getting incredibly inbred. Some of the less inbred kinds will get bigger though, males about 1.5", females 2" or a little bigger.

Look for the biggest ones you can, those tend to be the strongest and healthiest. Not the ones with the biggest tails though!

And yes, that ratio is fine. :)
