ok heres the deal i want to get a small fry tank to sit on a desk next to my pc (desk next to main fish tank)
ive messued and i can fit in a L12 inch x W12 inch x H18 inch
could be wider say another 4 inches and could be high say 24 inch total.
ive been looking over ebay and such for the past few hours and i could get heater for around 10 filter for around 5 (or making one) now comes the hard parts the tank itself

i was thinking about makign one but that would leave the problem for lighting
i was thinking about buying one but all i can find is them dam biorbs and nothing else for under 30 pound

so ive come to beg you guys into point me in the right direction

ok then maybe tell me what your smallest tank is how much it cost to setup and where you got it from

I would have thought that if you were handy enough to build the tank, building a simple hood with a PC lamp in it would be easy.

hi
are you in the uk?? if so pets @ home have basic small glass tanks that are cheap we bought an 18x9.5x10 inch glass tank with a plastic lid that we use as our fry tank. we bought 2 separate little lighting kits ( arcadia do some got again from pets @) & just had to drill holes in the lid to fix these on. we also bought a fluval 1 filter(was on sale for about 10quid) but i know you can get little box filters on ebay for much cheaper (ours for our hosp tank was about £4 total including p&P). i cant remember the cost as it was over 2 yrs ago & im sure the total setup was around 30quid. you can get even cheaper plastic little tanks at the same place but lighting would be difficult to fix on them & also we like to see the fry (& have our fry tank on our computer desk) & our little hosp tank is acrylic/plastic & a bowed shape which distorts the view.
we dont have a heater in the fry tank as our ambient room tC is always warm & the temp stays regular around 24c even in winter but i know you can get little pad type heaters from online stores. we find the lights keep the tank temp warm & even overnight in the middle of the night the temp doesnt vary in our livivng room (ive checked at 3am)

we dont have fry in it at the mo but have raised successfully a large 50+ batch of swordies in there & several batches of black mollies.it currently has some teeny amano & cherry shrimps residing there

the pic is of the fry tank when we had just fixed one light, it now has 2 so is brighter.
