I bought some guppies yesterday, one of which was pregant and she dropped about 30 fry today (i reckon i've lost a dozen so far to other tankmates). At present my nursery tank (which was originally intended as a quarantine tank) has quite an overly strong filter and it's likely to suck up the fry. It also doesn't generate any bubbles as the outlet is very low down.

At the moment the fry are in my main tank in a trap as I only set up the nursery tank this morning and i need to let it cycle and settle.

Am i right in thinking an airstone would be a better way of rearing the fry in the nursery tank. If so can you recommend me a make/model.

The nursery tank is very small, only 18 litres, 3.5 gallons.

Thanks

Sponge filters are ideal for fry tanks. There is a sticky in the DIY section on how to make your own. I make all of my own, a little differently than the sticky though. You will need an air pump to run them.

Yeah I agree with Tolak...I also use sponge filters.
