Fry Question

Do all fry look the same when they hatch? I have some that hatched about 15 hrs ago. The dad is doing great. I have noticed that most are white/clear, but a few look dark. like they are black, or have some black on them. The mother is pastel. The dad is hard to describe. I have never seen another betta like him. I would say he is mostly black, but translucent. So his fins are sort of smokey. But he is very irridescent. Blue green and yellowish green. He also has a little bit of white streaking on his fins. Sorry I cant post pics, my comp is on the fritz.

no they wont get pigmint untill they are older, my guess is that ther darker ones are just a bit older that the lighter ones, or atleast matureing faster.

The light one's will be light bodied like their mother and those with the dark streak will be dark like their father You can indeed tell which is which from an early age. Pretty cool,huh?

That is cool. The male could not be a better dad. He is doing a great job of keeping all the fry in the nest. I can't even guess how many I have. Still not sure how long I will keep him in. I will prob take him out tomorrow (when they are free swimming) I may leave him, and keep any eye on him.

Just got my first good look. (got a flashlight) There are hundreds of little tails. I wish I could fast foward them a month, so I could see there colors. I can not praise him enough. I could not ask for a better dad. I just fed him. When he was done, he went right back to collecting his babies. Didn't eat a one. Smart little guy. I am even more in love with him now that I see what a great dad he is. Before it was all looks, now it's the total package. I should have some fry for adoption.

I'm offto start a spawn log. I hope I'll be able to post pics by the time they start to get their colors.
