Do the fry not grow in them because ive had 3 swordtails in it for a month now and they dont seem to have grown and recently i put in 5 silver mollie fry and they look the same size? :dunno:

I usually just use the breeder trap to capture the newborn fry, then transfer them to a fry tank so they have room to swim, eat and grow. I have molly fry that are 6 months of age and aren't even half the size of the parents.

well i really wouldnt expect them to be the size of there parents at 6 months, but can i transfer the fry in to a tank with these fish, 1 pleco 2 firemouths gourami ( it think thats there name), 1 red tailed shark, 2 afriecan clawed frogs female silver mollie and female swordtail would they be ok in with all them??

Hi snotirl,

The fish you listed in your last post would devour all of your fry instantly, especially if they're the same size they were when born. A breeding trap or net is not designed for raising fry, only for birthing them. They do not have any room to swim or grow, and although there are holes in the trap to allow water circulation, the water quality inside the trap deteriorates much more quickly than that which surrounds it. Even a 1 gallon plastic critter keeper is sufficient as a fry tank, provided it is kept warm, you filter it with a small sponge filter, and you do frequent water changes. You can even float the 1 gallon plastic tank in one of your large tanks to keep it the right temp; just make sure it's not hovering directly under lights which will heat the water too much.

Ok ye i was thinking about purchsing a fry tank i will now thanks!
