I found out this mornin by looking in my tank my fromia star has been attacked by something (im thinking its probably my killer hermits who have also torn up my baby abalone's foot), only two of its legs have been torn up, and there is still 3/4 of both arms left. Should I encourage it too grow back and just let it be? Its still moving, but only slightly.

Ive noticed a decline in my macro algae, due to my multiple crabs that inhabit the LR. Would this have possibly weakened the Fromia?

Ben, (Miagi).

Ben....fromia stars are tough to keep in nano's. I've been told from 'experts' that most of them eat sponges. They usually starve to death in nano tanks. I don't think hermits are strong enough to tear thru a stars hide. I wonder if your star is starting to fail. Be very careful. That star can crash your tank if it dies...been there done that. My fromia indica died and I lost a 1/3rd of my zoos, Fiji leather shutdown, amongst other stuff and I was water changing forever. If you think it is dying, get it out as soon as possible. SH

Ok, I think its on its way out. It came with the set-up when I bought it. So couldnt really help having it. I dont know about the hermits, the took a huge chunk out of my baby abalone's foot. :( Thanks for your reply SH.

None really. He hasnt disintergrated like I thought he was going to. During the end of each day, he moves about 10cm's, but he hasnt gone further than that. He just sits...

I decided for the better well being of my tank, he should be removed. I did a complete overhaul of the tank whilst I was theree too. Pics sometime soon.
