i have a frogspawn that has been losing individual tentacles occasionally and i'm wonder what would cause this? i tried looking for more information online and some have said this may be a way of "sporing" and reproducing. another possibility was that there is a chemical imbalance in my tank. if so, which chemical(s) or the lack thereof would cause this?

Could you please give us a rundown of your water parameters?
TEMP / SG / PH / NITRATE / PHOSPHATE / CALCIUM/ ECT
I am guessing by your previous post {red bubble alga} that your phosphates and nitrate have a reading I would just like to see the test results for your parameters then we can take it from there!!
Also what fish do you have in your tank are they all reef safe? Could one be picking at the coral?

Agree...we need a LOT more info about your tank before we could begin to give an educational reply. Fill us in. SH

There is an interesting piece in The Coral Of The Week - Euphyllias, that you might like to read :good:

Eric Bournman does indeed believe that this may be a way of reproduction

temp is at 26C
SG is 1.025
PH is 8.2
nitrate is 0
phos is 0 (i know i was surprised too)
calcium is 400

all of my fish are (or should be) reef safe. i have 1 bi-colour blenny, 1 cleaner wrasse, 1 crosshatch goby, 1 lyretail anthias, and 1 cherub angel (he has never picked at corals) and some blue legged hermit crabs (they have never picked at corals either but they have been a nuisance at knocking them over)
