Hi. i thought it'd be cool to own a frog one day when I get another tank.
Is there any tropical ones that can live in a normal community fish tank? Do they still have to have something to sit on? if so, what?
Do they swim at all levels or just the top? How big would a frog get and would they eat fry and other fish?
Are they good/ok for a community tank?
Have you had a frog?
:dunno:
Thanks to anyone that can answer my 20 questions :)

for a small community tank an african dwarf frog would be perfect
they are peaceful yet playful
they can get up to 2" but more then likely only 1.5"
keep a tight lid
they are aquatic so they do not need something to rest on the surface
DO NOT an african clawed frog!
they grow very large and eat fish

good luck

Hopefully Inchworm will come across this and give you some links and info (she's knows all there is to know about ADF's). :D

Just a tip I've found out of my own...make sure they get enough to eat... 1. They aren't as assertive as the fish, and can get left out at lunch time. 2. When they are really hungry, they can start nipping at the fish (but this is only under extreme hunger).

Hi sushi :)

I keep both African Dwarf Frogs and African Clawed Frogs and am happy with both kinds.

I prefer to keep mine separate from the fish. The little ADFs are small and delicate and since they need a completely covered tank, I find it easier to care for them when they are by themselves. My two live happily in a one gallon mayonnaise jar. It is unheated and unfiltered, but I frequently clean it and do regular water changes.

My ACFs, on the other hand, cannot be housed with my fish. Except for my weather loaches and perhaps the gouramis, all the rest of my fish would most likely turn out to be lunch, either now or when the frogs have become adults.

Check the link in my signature for more information about both kinds of frogs. They do make interesting pets and are sure to attract the attention of everyone who sees them.
